Privacy policy

Snup collects no data. The app has no account, no ads and no analytics, and Peter Theill receives nothing from it.

Screenshots and recordings

Everything you grab or record is made and processed on your Mac. It goes to the clipboard, to the folder you chose, and to the recent list, which is kept in the app's own cache folder. Nothing leaves your Mac unless you share it.

Snup needs Screen Recording access in macOS to see the screen. It only uses it when you press a shortcut or choose an item in the menu.

When you press Copy Link

Only when you press Copy Link does Snup upload the file, to the destination you chose in Settings → Sharing:

• nstatxt.com (the default). The file is uploaded without an account and deleted automatically after 3 days. Until then, anyone with the link can see it. nstatxt.com is also made by Peter Theill. The server sees your IP address, which is used to limit abuse.
• Your own Cloudflare R2 bucket. The file goes straight to your bucket and stays there until you delete it. Your keys are stored in the Keychain on your Mac.
• Your own server. The file is sent to the address you entered. Any headers are stored in the Keychain.

When you use Share, the macOS share menu sends the file where you choose.

Microphone and system audio

The microphone is only used if you turn on Record microphone, and the sound only goes into your own recording. The same goes for system audio. Both are off until you turn them on.

This website

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to serve and protect it. It uses no cookies and no analytics. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
